Copy only the cells you need and clean the data as you copy
Sometimes you do not want a whole column or table, just a few cells from the middle. And often the raw data needs tidying before it is useful. Both are built into Table Column Copy.
Multi-select: pick your cells
- Click cells while holding Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) to add individual cells, or hold Shift to select a range.
- Selected cells get a highlighted outline. A bar appears at the bottom of the page showing how many cells are selected, with Copy and Clear buttons.
- Press Copy to put the selection on your clipboard. Right-click Copy to choose the output format first.
Multi-select can be switched on or off under Settings, Appearance.
Clean the data as it is copied
Under Settings, Data Cleaning, you can turn on transformations that apply every time you copy:
- Trim Whitespace removes leading and trailing spaces from every cell. Useful when pages pad their values for layout.
- Remove Duplicates drops repeated rows from the output.
- Case Transformation converts everything to UPPERCASE or lowercase, which helps when you are matching values against another list.
- Regex Filter keeps only rows that match a regular expression you supply.
A worked example
Say a page lists products and you only want those whose name starts with "Atlas" or "Cobalt". Enter ^(Atlas|Cobalt).* as the Regex Filter, switch on Trim Whitespace and Remove Duplicates, then copy the table as CSV. The result contains only the matching rows, tidy and without repeats. Clear the filter again when you want everything back.
Because these options run when you copy, nothing on the original page changes.
